Moose Mountain next door
Moose Mountain has poplar and birch trees and rolling hills. Its extensive trail system is used for hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling. Visitors also use the area for camping, boating, swimming, tennis and golf. The casino stands outside the park boundary, with the nearest edge 3.2 km to the west.
White Bear Lake Golf Course lies 2.7 km east of the casino in a straight line. Golf Kenosee is 8.5 km north and falls inside the park boundary on the map. The compass below measures each town twice: to the casino and to the nearest park edge. Carlyle, Arcola and Wawota are each 12 km from that edge. Both sets are straight lines between map points, so roads run longer.

Timeline: 1993 to 2010
- 1993First opening, shut down after about three months
- 1996Reopened in November
- 2010Hotel opened on July 1
The casino first opened in 1993 on White Bear First Nations. The province shut it down after about three months. It reopened in November 1996. The hotel opened on July 1, 2010.
SIGA, the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority, runs the casino as one of its seven. SIGA describes itself as a First Nations, non-profit organization that reinvests all net proceeds in Saskatchewan. Net profits from its casinos are split: 50% to the First Nations Trust, 25% to Community Development Corporations and 25% to the provincial General Revenue Fund.
Spec 06
Online gambling: the legal site
PlayNow.com, operated by SIGA, is the only legal online gambling site in Saskatchewan. It launched in the province in November 2022 and is for players 19 and older. The Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA) regulates gaming, and Lotteries and Gaming Saskatchewan (LGS) oversees it.
The Ad links on this guide's home page work differently. They point to a private online casino partner that is not PlayNow and is not run by SIGA or by Bear Claw Casino & Hotel. This guide earns a commission from those links and does not stand behind the partner. Self-exclusion through SIGA or Game Break does not block a private site.
